Seven schools and a dispensary in Muthetheni, Wamunyu, and Kibauni wards received cheques worth Sh100,000 each from the kitty to cater for the losses incurred due to ongoing heavy rains.

The cheques were issued by the MP's personal assistant Japheth Kivuitu.

Kivuitu said toilets in most of the affected schools crumbled as a result of flood waters after their roofs were blown away.

He told head teachers of the schools which benefited from the fund to utilize them well to serve the purpose of renovating affected structures.

Kivuitu said the area MP made the decision of supporting the schools through CDF so as to relieve parents from the burden of contributing funds for renovations.

"Parents have to carry the heavy burden of having to cater for the renovation of school structures when tragedy strikes but now it's a relief," Kivuiti said.

He said the same programme will continue in the remaining wards to ensure institutions which were affected are restored back to their normal operations.
