Speaking during an Agriculture stakeholder’s forum held on Thursday evening at a local hotel, Waiganjo said that she consulted with the department, and they said that the rains will fall in the next two weeks’ time in the country.

She added that despite the rains coming late than expected, there will be a dry spell period between the rainy seasons, thus farmers should be prepared to plant seedlings that require minimum rainfall instead of planting crops which wilt.

She has called on the residents of the semi arid areas of the county like Ngoliba, Gatuanyaga, Kalimoni among others to consider utilizing the irrigation projects initiated in the areas by the leaders, so as to sustain them in their next season’s dry spell.

“Utilize every resource delivered to you for your benefit maximally. These projects are meant to benefit and boost your lives,” said Waiganjo.

Waiganjo has urged the Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to order the release of fertilizers from the county stores so as to sustain the farmers, who are ready to till their farms in time saying that the people need fertilizers and seedlings so as they may not decry when time for planting comes.
