Speaking during the Wednesday proceedings, Wiper nominated member Nina Mbithe tabled a proposal that stated the Minister of Finance and Revenue Collection, together with the committee that prepared the report should be given more time to explain the faults in the report before the house.

However, the County Assembly building on Tuesday and Wednesday was on a heated debate between the opposing members and those who were for the opinion.

County Assembly speaker Bernard Mung’ata salvaged the situation, after he called for an opinion vote session where the opposition lost.

Majority leader Joshua Mwonga on Tuesday had tabled a proposal to withdraw the report presented by a section of Members of County assembly seeking to remove the finance minister, and have her department investigated and sued following the low tax collected in the year 2013-2014.

However, this was not taken lightly by the MCAs, led by Muthwani MCA Dominic Maitha, who termed the majority leader’s action as a move to mislead the house.

“The majority leader unfortunately is trying to mislead the house which is not right. In the report presented, it shows that in December 2014 there was a Sh7 million amount of tax collected, while in October the same year, there is zero amount collected. This is a reflection of corruption acts going on in the County,” said Maitha.
