Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Committee on Appointment put to task a County Executive nominee for ICT, Trade and Industrialization Dr. Emily Kogos over the role she played in rampant cases of examination leakages, unmarked exams and missing marks at the Moi University.

While appearing before the committee for vetting on Wednesday, Dr. Kogos who was the head of the school of information sciences at the university defended herself over the allegations saying such incidences were minimal during her tenure.

"As the head of a department directly involved in examination setting and marking in an institution characterized by exam leakages and missing marks, could it be that you are part of the reason such problem exists," asked Ny'enyilel MCA David Sing'oei.

In her response, Dr. Kogos said, "...issues of missing marks and unmarked exams aren't common in the school of information sciences as 99% of the students have been graduating so such incidences if any are very limited," Dr. Kogos further proposed that the county sets up a community radio that would be used to disseminate information to locals especially in rural areas.

Concerning trade in the county, the nominee said, should she succeed in getting the job, she would work to ensure traders apply and get their licenses online.

She also pledged to focus on encouraging farmers to engage in value addition of their products as a way if moving towards industrializing the county and taking advantage of the ongoing establishment of the multi-billion industrial Park at Plateau in the outskirts of Eldoret town.
