The issue of shortage of human resource at the 700-bed capacity Coast General Provincial Hospital will be resolved soon. This is according to newly appointed Mombasa County Health CeC Hazel Koitaba. The CEC toured the facility to get first-hand experience of some of the challenges at the institution, which is the biggest referral hospital in the Coast region.Speaking during the tour, Koitaba said the county’s health department will have a follow-up meeting with the hospital's administration to resolve all the challenges facing the institution. "We shall have a meeting to see how best we can resolve the issue of human resources. We receive so many patients in a day from all the six counties in the Coast region," said Koitaba. The hospital’s chief administrator Dr Iqbal Khandwalla said they had about 90 patients when the nurses were on strike, with the number increasing to more than 400 patients after the health workers resumed duty.
