Tourism, Commerce and Trade CeC Dr Rose Kisia has asked the governor and his deputy to provide houses for the county executive members to foster better service delivery in Kisumu.

Speaking to this writer on phone, Dr Kisia said that some of them live far away from the town and commute every day to Kisumu for work.

“The governor balanced appointments across all the seven sub-counties in kisumu. Some of us commute from our homes in Muhoroni, Nyakach, Seme and interior parts of the other sub counties and this is really hectic on our side,” said the CeC.

She noted that providing the county executive members with official residences will improve their service delivery and give them more time to work.

DR Kisia asked the two county chiefs to renovate former municipal council houses in Milimani Ward for the CeCs to move into them.

“I think this will even be cheaper for the county government than buying or building new houses,” she said.

At the same time, she asked that they be provided with armed bodyguards saying that their lives are normally endangered together with those of their families.
