Kenyans have been advised to celebrate moderately during the ongoing festive season.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said there is a need for the citizens to "think about tomorrow" even as they celebrate with friends and families during this Christmas season.

Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Chemno further challenged families to spend time together rather than engaging in alcohol-drinking sprees in bars.

"This festive season should be used as a family reunion time and parents need to allocate sufficient time to their children and mentor and advise them on how they can become better citizens," said Chemno.

“As the celebrations go on, it is also to remind our people that there's tomorrow so they should celebrate responsibly and avoid overspending since there will still be some bills to settle in January," he added.

The festive seasons in the country are traditionally characterised by high spending, sometimes leaving some families in a financial crisis.
