Celebrations rocked Kingwede Girls Secondary School in Kwale after Deputy President William Ruto handed them a school bus on Saturday.
Ruto was in Kwale County where he launched various infrastructural development projects, including commissioning of the Milalani-Mivumoni-Kilulu Road which opens up the interior of Msambweni sub county as well as aid transportation of farm produce.
"We’re grateful for this milestone which is also a great step in realizing the government’s 4 point agenda," said Governor Salim Mvurya who was re-elected on a Jubilee party ticket.
Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani the school requested the Deputy President for a school bus late last year.
"Today the deputy president has officially handed over a new bus to the school. I am grateful for the fulfillment of this promise," said Achani, as students celebrated with Ruto having a test drive.
Ruto also toured Jomo Kenyatta primary school which now has a new face after undergoing refurbishment. The refurbishment was sponsored by President Uhuru Kenyatta according to DG Achani.
"We look forward to good results at the end of the year now that the school has also been furnished. This is the only gift the parents and teachers can give," she said.
