Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura now wants Jubilee leaders drawn from the Mt. Kenya region to stop their endorsements of Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid in the region.
Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, Mwaura noted that the move could paralyze Ruto's candidature, advising the leaders to allow the Deputy President to personally handle the issue.
He said that the continued endorsements by the leaders have made him look overdependent on them, adding that the leaders are now to some extent imposing him on the region's voters.
''Mt. Kenya leaders, though in full support of Ruto's 2022 presidential ambition, must stop making it look like a matter of life and death. They are now more of shoving him down the people's throats than backing him and should consider cooling down a little,'' he said.
''Ruto has since said that he will personally head to Central for a vote hunting mission upon the start of the campaign season and should be let to spearhead it as he is very able to do it,'' he added.
With the 2022 presidential succession debate already heating up, Ruto has, however, called for calm, urging the political class to suspend any political activity until 2021 and concentrate on service delivery to Kenyans.
He is likely to vie on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket.
