Director of meteorological services James Kongoti said farmers in Central and Western Kenya will experience adequate rainfall according to April weather outlook.

“Several areas in Central and Western highlands are likely to experience slightly enhanced rainfall expected to begin on Friday in most parts of the country," he said.

Kongoti has urged farmers in the country's key food baskets to take advantage of the adequate rainfall by planting the right crops to maximise yields.

The rains come after a particularly warm month of March that Kongoti said was among the hottest in the last 15 years.

The good news to farmers comes days after Kiambu county government started distributing subsidised fertiliser to farmers to boost food security in the area.
