The MPs claim they have become a target of smear campaigns being ran by anti-Ruto forces from the region.

Mercenaries have also been sent to the MPs warning them that they risk losing out support from the powerful forces unless they tone down on the 2022 calls.

A source said the forces have told the legislators to ‘wait and read the mood on 2022’.

Among those targeted in the smear campaigns is Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa, Gatundu South’s Moses Kuria, Ndindi Nyoro and Irungu Kang’ata.

The vocal Kikuyu MP said he has become a target and as is being linked to the National Youth Service scandal because of his stand as an ally of the DP.

“This shallow thinking will fail miserably since we accompany the DP in his work as the President’s principal assistant as he espouses government policy and rolls out the agenda we all were elected on. So the flopped attempt to slander and mudsling us was a deliberate move by this faceless clique,” Ichung’wa told a local paper.

The DP’s camp is now in panic mode as it emerges there are very ‘powerful forces’ that want to stop his stab at the presidency.

The forces have reportedly set two offices in Gigiri and Lavington where they meet to scheme on how to bring down Ruto and his lieutenants.
