Omoyo Maize planters are one of the 10 groups from the region which was identified to receive part of Sh1.5 million from the Affirmative Action Social Development Fund.

Speaking during the event, Ms Chae challenged women to respect the law to avoid discrimination.

“I want to challenge all women groups in the county to ensure rules and regulations are followed. This includes ensuring defaulters are dealt with if at all we want to see positive social-economic development amongst us,” she said.

She also urged women, youth and people living with disabilities to form Sacco’s for easy and immediate aid from existing government funds and from well-wishers.

“It is my request to all youth, women and people living with disability to form Saccos so that you can receive funds easily from government kitties. Sacco’s are efficient for supporting social-economic growth and that is the way I want us to approach issues,” she added.

Gesima Assistant County Commissioner Ms Veronica Wangui also seized the opportunity to call for the formation of more community women groups to tackle economic challenges women undergo.

“As women, we have a big challenge in making an impact in social-economic development. Time has come for us to make and join groups which can help you tackle economic challenges we are subjected to. We must ensure that Kenyan women are economically independent,” she said.
