The sum is part of a Sh3 million affirmative action funds meant for table banking groups each selected per ward out of the existing 20 wards in the South Nyanza County.

Chae challenged women to form groups for easy assistance from both national and county leadership, apart from urging beneficiaries to run the funds prudently.

“This is a systematic programme from my office that targets performing table banking groups. It’s important that women form as many groups and they can do so that they can easily get assisted for the sake of empowering them economically,” she said.

“It’s also my challenge to those lucky groups to ensure they manage the funds prudently. We have to manage the little we get as a way of promoting economic transformation among our women in the society because that is important,” she said.

She also urged existing women groups to absorb 30 percent of men and youths to be part of them as required by the law.

“Sometimes we fail to understand that even men can be incorporated in the women groups. We need to see 30 percent of men and youths being invited so that we can transform our social-economic well-being in the society,” she said.

Two more groups selected from Gesima and Nyamira Township ward are expected to receive Sh150,000 each as phase one of the programmes gets to its homestretch.
