Governor William Kabogo has appealed to religious leaders across the country to pray for peaceful 2017 general elections.
Kabogo during a meeting with a section of church leaders at the Kiambu Orthodox on Monday said that peace is needed across the country before, during and after the 2017 polls.
The Kiambu governor stated that religious leaders have to commit the country to prayer and also take part in peace campaigns.
“Religious leaders whether Christian, Muslim or Hindu must commit the country to prayers as we head to the 2017 polls,” he said.
Kabogo indicated that he will work with the religious leaders to spearhead unity and peace in Kiambu ahead of the 2017 polls.
The Kiambu county boss stated that the 2017 election will be peaceful if all leaders commit to preaching unity among Kenyans.
The Governor warned politicians against spewing hatred saying it will be a catalyst for chaos.
He asked aspirants eyeing various seats across the country to engage in peaceful campaigns.
Kabogo is seeking re-election for a second term in 2017.
He, however, faces stiff competition from several aspirants who have declared an interest to unseat him.
Among the aspirants eyeing Kabogo’s seat are Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, real estate tycoon David Gakuyo, agriculture consultant James Nyoro and business woman Njoki Gathendu.
