Kenyatta University vice chancellor Professor Olive Mugenda has asked students to remain calm and wait for the government to resolve a land dispute with Kamae area residents.
She spoke at the institution where she met legislative council on education and also on land, who are making deliberations steps to take to resolve the matter peacefully.
She said the government should solve the issue quickly as students will not always be patient.
She however called on student leaders to engage other students to make sure the matter does not go out of hand as this would intensify the matters instead of resolving them as Kamae area residents have sworn not to leave the 70 acres piece of land.
“Am requesting the government to hasten matters at hand as we cannot always hold back the students who at times go rogue to resolve this matters very fast and give the university back its land for it to develop it,” Mugenda said.
She added, “Student leaders should help in maintaining peace among the students although I know it will be very difficult.”
