The Director of Futures of Kenya Foundation Mr Cyprian Nyamwamu has decried increasing cases of GBV incidents linked to chang'aa dens in the area.

Speaking at a Kisii hotel on Friday during training for community activists working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in implementing its Peace Initiative Kenya (PKI) project in Kisii County, Nyamwamu challenged law enforcement agencies and communities to intensify the war against chang'aa and other outlawed illicit brews in the area.

Nyamwamu regretted that, chang'aa dens in the region had led to breaking of marriages through increased cases of alcohol abuse which lead to domestic violence at families.

"I come from this region and I can speak out without fear of contradiction that chang'aa dens continue posing a security challenge to the institution of marriage due to its contribution to domestic violence in homes," disclosed Nyamwamu.

Nyamwamu regretted that when it comes to sexual abuse and immorality, chang'aa dens provide a conducive environment for the vices to thrive posing a challenge to the peaceful co-existence of the family members.
