Kitui Governor Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.re-election is no longer a surety. He has formidable opponents who have announced their desire to dethrone him in the next elections.
Kitui's incumbent governor has found the re-election terrain too tough to scale. The announcement of Mama Ngilu and senator David Musila that they will go for the gubernatorial seat has unsettled Malombe’s allies.
They want him to change his political game play to tame Ukambani lioness Charity Ngilu. The group wants Malombe to come up with a masterpiece campaign strategy to deal with Ngilu’s growing popularity.
They also want the governor to watch senator Musila closely because he is an able opponent.
“The governor has a very good development strategy but his campaign strategy is wanting,” Munyambu said as quoted by People Daily.
Former Lands Cabinet Secretary and seating senator Musila are yet to agree on who will face Malombe but are both campaigning seriously. They point out poor prioritization of projects as Malombe’s major failure.
The two have invested time and money in a thorough grassroots popularization program. Mwingi Professionals coordinator Campbell Munyambu said, “They have both hit the ground to popularise themselves ahead of the 2017 campaigns and are in direct touch with the voters. Malombe should do the same and not assume things will go his way.”
