Nakuru County Women Rep Mary Mbugua has urged police officers in the county to change tactics in the fight against illicit brews to eradicate the illicit concoction.

Mbugua said that despite efforts to get rid of chang’aa and Kangara, brewers are still conducting their business and bribing law enforcement officers.

Addressing Molo resident at Turi division during the distribution of Uwezo Fund Cheques, the woman rep said some police officers were hindering the success of wiping out unhygienic local liquor. 

Mbugua said women and children in the society highly suffer when their bread winners are addicted, a stage that also led some men to misuse their income in drinking dens.

‘’In order to tame illicit brews, the society must wake up and unite. If you feel that the police and chiefs at the location level are not performing as required, report to the highest authority” she added.

Mbugua called on the judiciary to sternly deal with those nabbed selling local brews adding some of those arrested and released have been going back to brewing.

Elburgon MCA Florence Wambui urged the beneficially of the Uwezo Fund to embark on profitable activities to repay their loans.

She asked the youth to shun illicit brews and form groups with objective of borrowing such funds to enable them invest.
