Kiambu anti-drug crusader Gladys Chania has warned politicians against politicising the ongoing war against drug trafficking and narcotics.Chania wants politicians to keep politics out of the war against drug trafficking saying that the menace has caused untold suffering, especially to youths.Speaking to journalists at St Patrick Primary School in Thika during a prayer rally on Sunday, Chania said that the country is bleeding as result of drug trafficking and abuse especially among the youth.“Politicians should stop politicking in the war against narcotics and instead support government mechanisms being put in place to wipe out the vice,” she said.Chania who is eyeing the Kiambu Woman Representative seat asked the national government to continue the crackdown on drug barons.She urged stakeholders including religious leaders to support efforts meant to fight drug trafficking.The national government has renewed the fight against narcotics with several suspected drug barons being deported in the last few days.A section of opposition leaders has however accused the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government of allegedly using the war against narcotics to gain political mileage ahead of the August 8 general election.The national government has however rubbished the claims saying that it will crush all drug barons and syndicated across the country and especially at the Coast.
