There was drama at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) offices in Kilifi town after a group of Kilifi South MP hopeful Nicholas Mrima Wanyepe's supporters stormed the premises demanding the nullification of the nomination results. The supporters, who were carrying twigs and placards, castigated Governor Amason Kingi and Senator Stewart Madzayo, accusing them of collaborating with officials conducting the primaries to rig out the aspirant. They alleged that Kingi and Madzayo rigged out Wanyepe, and threatened to vote the duo out in the August polls."Kingi and Madzayo must go. They planned the failure of our MP Mr Wanyepe and hence should be sent home,” one of the supporters told the Nation. Business came to a standstill at the offices where hundreds of supporters had camped waiting for the announcement of the Woman Rep results. Calm was restored after General Service Unit (GSU) officers intervened and dispersed the crowd.Businessman Ken Chonga clinched the ODM ticket after he garnered 8,862 votes against Wanyepe’s 2,552 votes. The seat is currently held by Mustapha Iddi who decamped to Jubilee.
