A Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) delegates meeting has ended in chaos after members demanded that secretary-general Wilson Sossion quits.
Sossion, who was nominated by the Orange Democratic Movement into the National Assembly as an MP, has insisted he will not relinquish his post at Knut.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie on Wednesday asked him and 10 other trade union official who won elective seats to vacate office.
Sossion, however, warned the Labour ministry and the government against interfering with trade union matters.
"I am not going anywhere. This is a trade union, not a government entity. I am the Knut secretary-general. Let the delegates decide," the MP said on Thursday.
