Chaos erupted during an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) meeting held in Kakamega County after supporters of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' stormed the venue following allegations that his nomination certificate was missing.

Security personnel had a hard time controlling the supporters.

They were forced to whisk away the party's National Elections Board (NEB) members who were issuing certificates to the winners of the western region.

The rowdy crowd had threatened to attack them if they didn't stop the process.

They demanded an explanation from the election board as to why the Busia Governor's certificate was missing despite being declared the winner in the party nomination.

The fracas forced Kakamega Governor who is also the Deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya to call off the meeting promptly.

“It is unfortunate that we had to call off the meeting so that supporters can cool down,” he said. Mr Oparanya further explained that Mr Ojaamong could not get his certificate together with the others because his certificate had a wrong date.

“His certificate was prepared but it had a wrong date that is why it’s not here,” he said. However, nobody was hurt or apprehended during the incident.
