Chaos were on Thursday witnessed in Kinango, Kwale County after police disrupted Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's ODM rally.
According to the Standard, the rally began peacefully only for police, led by OCPD Lawrence Charo, to order the supporters to leave the venue after receiving reports that Joho was set to arrive in the next 15 minutes.
Reports indicate that police lobbed a teargas at the landing bay shortly after Joho's chopper arrived, a move that angered youth who were chanting anti-Mvurya slogans.
The ODM supporters blamed Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya for the incident, claiming he had played a hand in the rally being canceled.
