A group of youths allied to ODM on Monday waged protests against Deputy President William Ruto who was due to visit Nyamira County.
Trouble started when security forces manning Nyangori Water project evicted youths in Orange Democratic Movement attires on grounds that the DP was not in campaigns.
And minutes later, the angry youths barricaded Amabuko-Magombo road, the route the DP is expected to use on his way to Nyamira for another function at Nyagokiani secondary.
But the situation was contained after local administration offices persuaded the faction to vacate the road as security forces unblocked the route.
For half an hour, the disgruntled youths sang anti-Ruto slogans accusing him of belittling Raila Odinga in his rallies across the country.
"It was a miscommunication but the matter has since been handled. It was not a big issue as some people want it to sound," said Walter Nyambati, a former Kitutu Masaba MP.
On Sunday, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire had warned the DP against lying to the public over the Nyangori water project which he says was funded by ADB bank.
"Ruto should be sincere when he is moving around the country. Let him launch new projects and stop misleading the people. The water project was launched by ADB bank," he said.
The DP is expected to land at Ichuni Secondary after which he will visit Keroka Level four hospital.
