Police engaging angry residents [Photo/Star]
Chaos erupt in Kisumu following the supreme court ruling today which upheld president Kenyatta's win of elections held on 26th October, 2017.
Contrary to the reactions witnessed on 1st September, 2017, which nullified August general polls, today the supreme court's ruling was met with bitterness and the residents took to streets to express their dissatisfaction with the court verdict. There is high tension and chaos as riotous groups are engaging anti-riot police in running battles. Businesses are paralysed in major parts of the lakeside city's CBD as police is trying to disperse them with tear gas. As a way of expressing their anger, a vehicle has been set ablaze by the residents, as anti-Uhuru slogans rent the air. Kisumu forms the bedrock support of the opposition chief Raila Amolo Odinga. The opposition team will issue a statement later in the day, to give it's supporters the way forward.
