Residents of Rianyamwamu sub location Kiogoro location in Kisii County early on Monday morning stormed the office of the district commissioner to demand a new sub-Location. The residents who were angry about the changes which were expected to be made said that they cannot be dictated.
According to Penuel Nyamwamu who was the secretary to the residents, the chief of the location Mrs Zipporah made changes to the sub-location without consultation with the village elders about the matter.
Chaos almost erupted as the residents began to make noise from outside the office of the district commissioner.
The residents were demanding for the division of the Rianyamwamu sub-location in two, Obwoyo and Rianyamwamu.
But they claimed that the chief had already declared that she will give the sub-location elsewhere which evoked tension among the members of the community.
"The current chief of Kiogoro location has taken her own report going against the village elders meeting," The angry residents said.
The angry residents then demanded an answer from the Kisii district commissioner whom they claim is able to resolve the issue and if not they have threatened to organise a demonstration to the county commissioner’s office to have their grievances addressed.
