Siaya gubernatorial hopeful Nicholas Gumbo has denied hiring youths to disrupt NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga's rally in the county earlier in the week.
Speaking on Thursday, the Rarieda MP maintained his innocence in the matter, accusing ODM of stage managing the fracas to portray him in bad light.
Gumbo is gunning for the Siaya gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate after he lost the ODM party ticket to the incumbent governor Cornell Rasanga during the primaries.
“The rally was theirs. I wasn't in attendance. As a matter of fact, I was harvesting maize in my farm at the time. They stage-managed the chaos with known thugs hired from Kisumu. These people are desperate to push their unpopular candidates. They are literally ready to kill for it,” Gumbo noted.
