The Parents of over 800 students of Molo secondary school (Molo 220), claimed that the fees charged at the school violates the new fees guideline, which was issued by education cabinet secretary Joseph Kaimenyi.

The stormy meeting which lasted for seven hours revealed that the school authority had ignored the ministry of education policy guideline, exploiting parents by charging increased fees.

The parents claimed that the school head had failed to determine essentials versus luxurious needs for the school, and instead of charging Sh9,374 as provided by the education CS, bloated fees was being charged per student.

They said Molo secondary school, which is a day school, was charging the highest fees in the district, citing form four students who are expected to pay Sh19,442 for the next term.

The tempestuous meeting was marred with protest, as parents continued to differ with the school principal and shouting at him.

They said the government had catered for some of the education requirements, wondering why they were being charged for the same.

But the principal defended the hiked fees, claiming that the school was incurring a lot on its allocation in holding meetings among other basic requirements.
