Chaos broke out Saturday at the Orange Democratic Movement Nakuru County branch offices after a member of a faction opposed to the branch leadership stormed a thanksgiving event organised by party chairman Peter Ole Sono.
Tension gripped members of the public that had turned up for the celebrations.
Party supporters and members of the public ran for safety during the incident.
Sam Muche, an affiliate of the opposing faction walked into the party offices unexpectedly when supporters of the current office bearers pounced on him with blows and kicks before ejecting him from the premises amid a heavy Saturday evening downpour.
However, no injuries or casualties were reported.
The branch chairman Peter Ole Osono addressed the press moments after the brawl where he dismissed any chaos, terming Muche a drunkard that had strayed in to a peaceful party with an ulterior motive.
Efforts to reach Muche for comment were futile as he could not return phone calls.
