Charcoal vendors in Kisii are cashing in following the onset of rains.
They say business is booming as people stock charcoal in their homes in preparation for the cold season which is setting in.
“I make up to Sh600 in profit in a day compared to last month where I would make a profit of Sh200 or Sh100 all day," said John Wemali, a vendor.
"This is due to the cold season setting in. Most people are avoiding the last minute rush which comes with high prices,” added Wemali.
Wemali said his stock is depleting fast and since last week he had to increase his stock.
“The sales are very promising this month. I had to reorder for the stock every three days,” he said.
