Anyone planning to invest in a private education institution in Kisumu County will have to dig deeper into his/her pockets before getting the institution registered.

This will only happen when and if the Kisumu County Finance Bill 2017 is signed into law by Kisumu governor Professor Anyang Nyong’o. The bill which proposes a host of tax measures was recently passed by the Kisumu County Assembly.

The bill proposes registration fee of Sh10,500 for Nursery schools, Kindergartens, Pre-Units and day care centres in Kisumu city, while Sh6,000 will be charged for the same within other sub-counties of Kisumu.

Private primary schools will attract a registration fee of Sh20,000 within Kisumu City, and Sh10, 000 in the other sub-counties.

Those planning to invest in tertiary institutions will have to part with Sh30, 000 for registration within Kisumu City, and Sh15,000 within other parts of Kisumu County.

Registration for a private university in Kisumu County will be Sh1, 000, 000.
