Many customers of Chase bank in Kisumu woke up to a rude shock after they found the bank premises locked.

The customers also could not access their money after the doors to the Automotive Teller Machines (ATM) doors were also locked leaving many stranded.

The angry residents were left with nothing to do after they found out that Chase Bank has been put under receivership, by the Central Bank of Kenya.

Joel Oguta who is in a hotel business wondered how he is going to pay his employees now that he cannot access his cash.

“I was to pay my employees today, now where am I going to get the cash to pay them? How am I even going to explain to them yet they have needs they are supposed to meet,” posed Oguta.

Many wondered why they were not told well in advance so that they plan their day.

“Had I been aware this is going to happen, I would have withdrawn my money yesterday,” said Gabriel Omondi.

“Sadly the biggest losers are the small depositors. Huge depositors often have huge loans and this is an opportunity to delay repayments and stagger the installments conveniently,” said Hesbone Omollo an accountant.
