Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi wants CORD leader Raila Odinga and the ODM party to learn from what is happening in Homabay County and allow people to elect leaders of their own choice.
Cheboi said that the kind of hostility the CORD candidate is facing in the forthcoming Homabay senatorial by-election is a clear indication that the people of Luo Nyanza are fed up with the trend of leaders being forced on them.
Speaking on Sunday at Kuresoi AIC church, Cheboi said that Odinga should read the mood of his people and allow them to make their own independent decisions.
He added that 2017 will be even worse if Odinga does not change his tactics and allow true democracy to prevail in Luo Nyanza.
“As we speak, politics is taking a different shape in Homabay and the good people of Luo Nyanza are saying no to forced leadership, and I want to tell my good friend Odinga to pick a lesson from what is going on in Homabay so that he doesn’t repeat the same mistakes in 2017.
“If Raila is a true democrat as we know him to be, then he should allow the same democracy to prevail in his homeland and allow people to elect leaders of their own choice,” said Cheboi.
Cheboi called on Odinga to give a hand back to Ruto for the support he gave him in 2007 by supporting him in 2022.
“Ruto sacrificed a lot for Raila in 2007, and it even landed him at The Hague and the only way Raila can repay him back is by supporting him in 2022,” added Cheboi.
