IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati says elections will go on as planned despite his earlier concerns about the political environment.
Last week, Chebukati insisted that all parties for presidential election to dialogue for the sake of reducing rising temperatures in the country.
In a press conference at Bomas,m Chebukati said security concerns have been taken care of thus elections will go on as planned.
"I have been in contact with the Inspector General and he has assured me of security. Thursday polls will go on as planned.
"I urge Kenyans who will to participate in the elections to show up and exercise their democratic right," said Chebukati in a brief statement.
Despite his assurance on security, local media has reported massive boycott by election officials in several parts of Nyanza.
The latest development could be a blow to opposition team NASA which has been pushing for postponement of the elections.
