Following fears that the October 26 repeat presidential polls might be postponed, IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati has finally addressed the issue.

Speaking on Thursday, Chebukati ruled out any possibility of pushing the polls ahead maintianing that the Supreme Court period of 60 days should be respected.

"We cannot extend the 60-day period [for the fresh election] ordered by the [Supreme] Court and I hope it will not be interfered with," he told a press conference at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

He also commented on the ongpoing debate to cahnge the election laws currently being debated in parliament.

"I hope the laws in Parliament will not change the premises we have put in place. It will take the agency backwards."

He assured Kenya the repeat poll set for October 26 will take place as planned despite the collapse of IEBCs talks with NASA and Jubilee representatives.
