Electoral agency IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has described the just-concluded presidential repeat polls as "above board."
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya ahead of Uhuru Kenyatta's announcement as president-elect, Chebukati debunked claims that the process was marred by massive electoral malpractices, asserting that he was confident that the poll was free, fair and credible.
“As a commission, we are confident the process being done in a free, fair and transparent manner," he remarked.
Chebukati's affirmation comes amid calls by the Opposition coalition NASA for IEBC to conduct a fresh poll within 90 days.
According to NASA, the repeat polls were sham and lacked legitimacy.
Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta has since been declared president-elect, pending swearing-in.
NASA leader Raila Odinga called on his supporters to boycott the elections days after he announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
