The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati is a coward who is incapable of stamping his authority at the electoral commission.

This is according to former presidential candidate James Ole Keyiapi.

Through an article he wrote with the Star, Keyiapi said that the crisis we have in the country could have been averted had the IEBC boss used his powers to seek intervention of the Supreme Court on key contentious issues.

"The Supreme Court wanted the election done within 60 days. The IEBC is not prepared. I don’t know the solution because we are already late," he said.

"IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati had the time to go to the Supreme Court and seek more time so that he can reorganise his team. He did not. Chebukati is a coward. He should know that he is the chairman because the Kenyan people gave him a job. He knew the country was divided and should have looked for a solution," he added.

Keyiapi argued that basing on the situation the country is in, the only solution now lies in President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.
