[Photo|Daily Nation]The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says the exact figure of the voter turnout in the Thursday fresh presidential election will be communicated.Chairman Wafula Chebukati said a team was working hard to get the actual figure, despite him issuing a voter turnout figure earlier. On Thursday after voting had ended, he said a total of 48 per cent voters turned up to vote, countrywide. He later clarified the issue through Twitter saying actual figures from 267 constituencies showed that 6,553,858 Kenyans turned out to vote in the fresh presidential election."The 48% was a best estimate turnout from the team. Latest actual figures from 267 constituencies show 6,553,858 Kenyans turned out to vote," Chebukati said Thursday evening. This means that the total number of 19,611,423 registered voters is 33.4 per cent. However while responding to questions from journalists at the National Tallying Centre on Saturday, Chebukati said the two figures were issued basing on documents received by that time.He said an actual figure of the voter turnout would be communicated in the course of the proceedings on Saturday. The issue of voter turnout and the number of votes by each of the eight presidential candidates has raised questions on social media, especially after Kenyans saw Uhuru Kenyatta's votes had exceeded the given number of voter turnout.
