The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati has expressed grief following the death of IEBC ICT manager Chris Musando.
Musando went missing on Friday night before his body was found in Kikuyu constituency and taken to the City Mortuary on Saturday morning.
Addressing members of the press at the City Mortuary on Monday, Chebukati said the commission was shocked to learn the death of their colleague. He demanded the killers of Musando to be brought to book.
“We’ve learnt with shock the killing and murder of our colleague Chris Musando. There is no doubt that he was tortured and murdered. In our mind as a commission the only issue is who killed him and why and that is the question that must be answered,” said Chebukati.
The IEBC boss further asked the government to provide security to all IEBC’s workers.
“I demand from the government that they provide security for all employees of IEBC for us to give Kenyans free and fair elections,” he said.
Chebukati said the late ICT manager was the driving storm in the electoral’ body ICT sector.
“The family has lost, IEBC has lost. Chris was one of the most educated employees of IEBC in the ICT sector. He was the driving storm in the ICT sector,” Chebukati noted.
