Even though he has defiantly stayed put at IEBC, electoral body boss Wafula Chebukati is silently lobbying to stay in office despite pressure to bolt out.
At a press conference of Friday, Chebukati denied claims that three commissioners who resigned earlier this week had tendered official resignation.
"I have not received any formal resignation letters from the three commissioners," he said.
Also, the chairperson insisted that CEO Ezra Chiloba had only been sent for a compulsory leave contrary to reports that he was under suspension.
But a source within ODM party says Chebukati has tried to reach out to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to save him from the current tribulations.
"There is a lot of politics within the commission and he has reached Raila to save him. However, the ODM position remains that all the commissioners must leave," said the source.
Days to October repeat polls, Raila absolved Chebukati from any wrong doing, insisting that the chairman was under immense pressure from the executive.
Instead, Raila turned his guns against suspended CEO Chiloba, who he accused of allegedly working with Jubilee to bangle elections.
