Over 500 IEBC officials are meeting in Mombasa, Nyeri, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Meru counties for the Post Election Evaluation (PEE), a key component of the electoral cycle.
Under the theme: “Moving Towards a Stronger Democracy” IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati reminded poll officials who are reviewing the 2017 electoral process, that their constitutional mandate is the spring of democracy that nurtures the country’s stability and growth.
The electoral body said it plans to have Presiding Officers give their contribution to the PEE exercise through an online questionnaire, to help in ensuring the electoral system is efficient.
"We plan to have POs give their contribution to the PEE exercise through an online questionnaire," said IEBC.
The workshop which kicked off on Monday, in six counties also saw Chebukati and his Commissioners meet with representatives of the European Union (EU) who reiterated their support for the IEBC, including support for the on-going Post Election Evaluation exercise.
Chebukati further dismissed reports that there has been a withdrawal of donor support to IEBC, saying they are funded by the UNDP and IFES who have since confirmed their continued support to the Commission for all activities agreed upon.
"Contrary to reports in a section of the media alleging withdrawal of donor support to IEBC, we recently met partners who fund us through UNDP and IFES. They also confirmed their continued support to the Commission for all activities agreed upon," he said.
