IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has responded to reports that the opposition might block the repeat presidential polls in their strongholds.
Speaking on Saturday in Eldoret during a training session of officials, Chebukati said that he does not foresee a situation where the opposition blocks elections.
He said that there are institutions who will be tasked with ensuring that elections run smoothly.
"Our mandate is on elections and we are ready in all areas. There are institutions to ensure we do our work smoothly," said Chebukati.
On Raila Odinga's withdrawal from the repeat polls, Chebukati said that the NASA leader will be on the ballot since did not use the proper channels to pull out of the race.
"We have not received any other communication from him so we are proceeding with all plans as scheduled."
The opposition has maintained that no elections will go with the current IEBC in place and hinted at a plan to block polls from happening in key strongholds.
NASA wants IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba to vacate office for allegedly being the man behind mismanaging of the August 8 polls.
