IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati has been sued.

The El Molo community from Northern Kenya has sued Chebukati after missing out on the nomination list of the Marsabit County Assembly.

The chair has been accused of discrimination in a case that was filed on Monday and presided over by Justice Roselyn Aburili .

Through lawyer Elias Mutuma, the community states that they are the minority in the entire North Eastern part of Kenya hence deserve a representative in the county assembly.

According to the community, they only have 2,800 members.

The petitioners are led by Danila Lenatiyama who argues that the community lacks any form of representation in both national and county assemblies.

She alleges that her party, the Frontiers Alliance Party, nominated her to represent the minority and the marginalized in the county and forwarded her name to IEBC for consideration but she was deliberately omitted from the list.

The case is set to be mentioned before Justice John Mativo on September 27 to confirm compliance.
