President Uhuru Kenyatta will be declared the winner of the fresh polls slated on 17th October 2017 if National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga refuses to take part in the exercise.
Speaking during an Interview with KTN, Raila said that he cannot afford to boycott the fresh election since his opponent will be declared the winner unopposed.
“For there to be elections, there have to be parties to contest. Jubilee candidate can go ahead and be declared the winner unopposed,” he added.
The contest between President Kenyatta and Raila has continued to hit headlines with MPs boycotting parliamentary sittings because of the stalemate following the ruling of the supreme court.
Speaking after the Presidential address at the parliamentary building, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale said it is not right for NASA MPs to skip parliament.
“Their boycotting is like the way any member can decide not to attend tomorrow’s sitting. The quorum of the House is 50 members, “he said, as quoted by Capital FM.
The lawmaker also said that the house is facing several challenges because of the lack of the leader of the minority.
“The problem we are facing now under the new House is that we don’t know who are the Minority Leaders we should be dealing with in this House. This is a very confused coalition,” Duale stated.
