Chebukati who was appearing before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) of Parliament said he wrote the letter to the Treasury because the three commissioners no longer work for the IEBC.

The commissioners are Consolata Nkatha Maina, Paul Kurgat, and Margaret Mwachanya who recently resigned from the commission after differing with Chebukati on pertinent issues with regard to operations at the IEBC.

"I wrote to the National Treasury asking that salaries for the three commissioners be stopped because they are not working for us," Chebukati said.

"I haven't received any response. So I don't know if they have been paid the April salaries."

Chebukati has been under pressure to resign from the holder of the IEBC following the departure of the three commissioners since the electoral agency currently has no quorum to conduct its activities at the national level.

IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba is also on 90-day forced leave leaving the commission under Chebukati and other two commissioners- Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye.
