[Photo| Courtesy]IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, has left Kenyans confused, following his statement, after Commissioner Dr Roslyn Akombe resigned, and flee to the US, Wednesday morning.Chebukati addressed the media at the Bomas of Kenya, leaving question marks, as to whether he would continue leading the electoral body, up to the October 26th, fresh presidential election date."I have vowed to uphold integrity. The technical preparations are on course. From an operational angle we're ready. I know there were some characters waiting for my resignation," said Chebukati, saying some forces wanted him to resign."I will not go down as the chairman who plunged the country into a deeper crisis. I cannot move forward with a divided Commission," Chebukati, lamented, saying most of his resolutions and argument at the Commission, are usually dismissed by most of the Commissioners. He asked staff who have been adversely mentioned by the politicians (NASA) to step aside, to do so, and allow the Commission's credibility ahead of the polls. He also warned politicians interfering with the body, saying: "I am giving yellow card to all the political leaders in the country. I will not allow anyone to destroy this country as long as I am the referee of this election."Chebukati lamented that the current political climate makes it impossible for the IEBC to hold a credible election, but commission is "technically ready" for the election.
