The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has strongly condemned the police concerning the several cases of brutality meted on civilians.
Speaking to the press on 25 October, the chairman criticised the officers in their role ahead of the repeat presidential election and said they had overstepped their mandate in beating up and killing Kenyans.
A tough Chebukati called upon the police force to stop the brutalities and ensure they oversee the repeat poll in accordance to the law.
“I have consulted extensively with the IPOA that the Independent police in oversight authority and we have agreed that the police brutality has to stop," he said.
"I have been assured that the oversight authority will be vigilant and indeed as we speak we’ve put all police officers on notice,” he added.
