Nakuru County MP Hon. Liza Chelule commissioned a Boychild Mentorship Program on Saturday in Nakuru.
The program is set to benefit over 250 young men during this year December vocation.
The boychild has gained popularity in the country after release of national exams for both secondary and primary schools after top slots were taken by girls.
During the colourful ceremony, the legislator said that it was evident that a girl is more likely to open up if overwhelmed by hurdles.
She said that on the other hand, a boy mostly bottles up every bit of anguish or pain.
Chelule said society seems to be more focused on the girl child which is rapidly suffocating the male child.
She said the boy child is prone to child labour, lack of self esteem, sexual assault and suffering.
Narcotics and alcohol abuse are some of the issues that have led to poor performance in school by boys as cited by Ministry of Education officials.
The campaign is aimed at empowering boys in Nakuru County so as to instill values and secure the society.
