Chemelil Sugar Fc players put aside their financial tribulations to hold fellow sugar millers Sony to a 2-2 draw in a match played at the Chemelil Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Sony's George Abege was the first to register his name on the score sheet on the 14th minute when he converted a beautiful through pass.
However, the lead was short lived after Amani Kyata converted from the spot on the 20th minute after Collins Neto was adjudged to have been fouled to end the first half on a one-all stalemate.
Sony came back in the second half with a lot of vigour and threatened to score from time to time.Their determination paid off in the 64th minute when Benjamin Mosha fired past Chemelil goalie John Waw to restore their lead.
However, a gutsy Chemelil side would not go down without a fight and soon restored matters in the 72nd minute when Philip Muchuma fired home a powerful header from John Mwita's cross.
Sony's Joseph Omwayi received his marching orders after he used a foul language in the 78th minute as Chemelil held on to the draw.
The point pushed Chemelil to 9th on the KPL log with 37 points just a point above Sony who occupy the 10th spot.
