The rate at which chemists are rising in Kisii University is very high which indicates one thing, good returns.
Chemists are almost doubling shops and other businesses in the area.
According to Jackson Ngesh, a pharmacist in one of the chemists, the business is at its peak owing to university students who are sexually active.
This makes chemists a booming business, especially for the E-pill and condoms.
Business thrives from this two other than other drugs and services offered in chemists.
“Students fear to get pregnant but can’t desist from the habit of having sex," said Ngesh.
"In fact, business is thriving more than ever meaning more students are indulging in sex,” added Ngesh.
Students fear responsibilities of being parents and thus opt to use E-pills for those who can’t have protected sex.
“I prefer to take the E-pill rather than get pregnant and since I can’t avoid sex, it is the best alternative,” said one of the students who opted for anonymity.
Ngesh adds that campaigns on the use of contraceptives have boosted business since more people especially students get to know the E-pills are safe.
